Last mile for car commute..
Probably.. 80% of people who commute to work on daily basis face the traffic snarls, chaos, pollution etc., in Bangalore (and other metropolitan cities as well). We have heard a lot about last mile connectivity for people using public transport system like bus, metro etc., .. in this article, I’d like to propose a last mile commute solution for a people using their big / small personal cars to office.
What do we mean by last mile?
Several of us get stuck in bad traffic junctions, while we are one or two kms away to our work place? sounds familiar getting stuck at Sony World, Manyata Tech Park, Eco Space junctions? and end up spending 20–25mins to cut through the bad signal, just to get in office parking space to park your car?
How about we solve this last mile commute issue with a solution that can reduce the travel time, stress, pollution & get you faster to office?
Solution — park & ride, last mile with cycle!
What if? govt. agencies / private players provide a 100 / 150 car parking structure 1 or 2kms before the busy junctions like Sony World, Silk Board, Manyata Tech Park, Residency Road etc., and provide cycles on rental for you to pedal the last mile to office (a dream.. park-and-pedal stations!), helping you cover the 2kms within 10mins, rather than spending 30mins in the car?
I know… this is not a complete, full solution to traffic woes of Bangalore, but at least hope this will give some relief for major junctions, allowing other folks who need to pass through busy junctions to reach their final destinations that is further away.
